For once, I live in the night;
Drunken lords defending their might.
Every point they seem to make,
They say is right. But for me,
Un-drunken and un-willful-
Of their presence, gazing in to the depths
Of the sky, at the minuscule stars-
Singing their monotonous pulse, again
And again, singing with the same voice,
Sounds different every time I hear;
For different is every line, with the
Same rhythm and beat, but with
That lifeful rhythm of a heart beat.
In the night only, they will shine.
In the night only, they will sing.
Their harmonious tone uniting,
Every single thing.
In the night only, can I gaze
At them and wonder, and hear-
Their joyful notes of romance, and
Forget all about, the willful sorrow
Of the drunken people.
