The castle on the ship

The castle on the ship
For ever and ever it floated
Past me, into reality.
I chased it splashing my
Arms and legs in an attempt
To swim on sand.

The ship stopped, watching
My frail attempts go in vain.

I was let in, the walls were
Built in wood and stone!
The party inside was grim,
But, there was a lot of rum,
And every cup was filled
To the brim, I took one
Unsure of the quality.
But, once drunk a manlike me
Would slip into insanity.

Then I heard a cheer in the
Grim crowd, the people were
Not silent after all, they were
Dancing with unseen steps.
And speaking language
Unheard by human ears.

The castle on the ship
Began to move,
The sand waves gave way
And there was a crowd in the crew!

There was a lurch, and
My focus came back to life.
The crowd became silent
So, I took another cup of rum.
Now everything looked happy,
As it had previously done.
